Centennial Celebration of the Re-Opening of the Old Church for Annual Meetings

It's finnaly (almost) here. Sunday June 5th, 2016 is the centennial of the re-opening of the Old Church for Annual Services. It closed in 1906 as many of the members had moved into townm and off the farms, as manufacturing had increased and jobs were plentiful

Many had missed the church they had attended for so many years and the friendships that had developed. A decision was made to re-open on the first Sunday in June on an annual basis, with ministers from various churches in the area preaching a sermon. After the service, people would reconnect with friend and family and visit the graves of their loved ones.

To celebrate this special Centennial event, the Old Church Trustees are providing a light lunch prior to the annual meeting. Immediately following the annual service, dessert will be provided. Everyone will get a chance to visit both before and after the service. This would be a great time and place to plan a family reunion

In addition, many family histories will be available and various memoriabilia from the "good old days" to look through. Many of us a decendants of the pioneers who founded and built the church in the 1840's. Many of us are related to each other but down't know how. Come on June 5th, 2016 and look through our historical materials and put the puzzle pieces together. if you have information to add, bring coopies to this year's service or contact Maureen Kelly, or Sue Simonson.
